Part of the dyno-calibration procedure involves "zeroing" the dyno console’s torque readout via an underpanel con-trol valve. If with the engine off and the display dial set to "torque" the reading is greater than zero, the valve setting is incorrect. This display already reads 15 lb-ft; on the top end, that may translate to a 20hp "gain." No wonder the control valve is sometimes referred to as a "tune-up valve"! View Related Article
