To get an idea of the wheel backspacing to try, hold a straight edge against the wheel-mounting surface of the car, then use a tape measure to check clearance at all points. If you’re using 15-inch rims, hold the tape measure 71/2 inches from the center of the hub (half the rim diameter) to estimate the location of the rim. Don’t forget to account for sidewall bulge.
