When this budget Max Wedge was originally assembled in 2007, the 440 Source Stealth heads were not yet available. If we were starting from scratch, we’d junk these tired castings and buy a set of Stealth heads instead (with stiffer springs added for the roller cam). Between the bowl work, the new Milodon 2.08/1.74 valves (shown) and other machine work, we’re into these heads for way more than the $995 cost of the aluminum Stealth heads. Plus, the Stealth heads come with upsized 2.14/1.81 valves as standard equipment, have thick decks and hardened seat inserts, and even look stock after you apply Race Hemi Orange.
