The can of brake cleaner was included to show scale. These plasma cutters are small. Plasma cutters are becoming popular items for the home enthusiast. Miller offers both the Spectrum 375 X-TREME and 675 X-TREME to these folks. The 375 cuts 3⁄8-inch steel and 1⁄4-inch aluminum, while the 675 cuts 5⁄8-inch steel and 3⁄8-inch aluminum. The 375 runs on either 115 or 230 volts. If you want the 675, you’ll need more juice, as it only runs on 230 volts. Be sure your electrical circuits can handle the loads. Both of these machines are capable of drawing about 30 amps operating at full power. Also, plasma cutters require shop air, so you’ll need a compressor that will supply enough air and enough power in your garage to support running the compressor and the plasma cutter simultaneously.
