    The adapter installs on the crank flange first and then the flexplate is bolted place. Note the two threaded holes in the adapter. These holes are used to mount a puller to remove the adapter from the crank flange because the register between these two parts can be tight.     The GM flexplate is designed for the late-model 300mm (11.8 inches) converter bolt pattern, while older transmissions like the TH350 and TH400 use a slightly smaller 11.75-inch pattern. Minor die-grinder work to elongate the bolt holes will remedy the situation. As an alternative, TCI sells a Gen III/IV SFI flexplate and spacer package that will bolt up to the older converter pattern.
