 The adapter installs on the...  The adapter installs on the crank flange first and then the flexplate is bolted place. Note the two threaded holes in the adapter. These holes are used to mount a puller to remove the adapter from the crank flange because the register between these two parts can be tight. Longer bolts are also necessary to ensure the adapter is properly attached to the crank flange. |  The steel adapter extends... The GM flexplate is designed for the late-model 300mm (11.8 inches) converter bolt pattern, while older transmissions like the TH350 and TH400 use a slightly smaller 11.75-inch pattern. Minor die-grinder work to elongate the bolt holes will remedy the situation. As an alternative, TCI sells a Gen III/IV SFI flexplate and spacer package that will bolt up to the older converter pattern. |
