The outboard carbs work just like a vacuum secondary four-barrel carb. When the vacuum signal gets strong enough, diaphragms open the butterflies on both carburetors and begin to deliver fuel. The linkage is there to close the outboard carbs when the center carb is closed, otherwise the engine would keep accelerating. View Related Article
