With all the attention paid to lower zinc levels in oil these days, we were careful to break in the flat-tappet hydraulic XE 284 cam by first removing the inner of the dual-spring package. This reduces the seat and open pressure, placing less load on the new cam and lifters during break-in only. Then we replaced the inner springs before dyno testing the package. View Related Article
