'CC QuickiesThe Forgotten FE: If you're trolling the yard and come across this air cleaner, as McGean recently did, you've found a '66-'67 Mercury with the two-year-only 410ci V-8. It's part of the Ford FE engine family, and it uses a 390 block with a 428 crankshaft for a bore and stroke of 4.050x3.98. The 0.020-inch-longer crank makes it a good score, but keep in mind it is also externally balanced like a 428. Don't confuse the 410 FE with the 410 MEL engine, which is worth its weight in dog poop.
