Finding 14 hp in the Right Air Cleaner Assembly
Our test engine for this airflow evaluation was a hopped-up GM Performance Parts 454 H.O. short-block with 10:1 compression, a big mechanical cam, and a pair of iron rectangle-port Merlin heads. For induction duties, we added a World Products Merlin single-plane intake and an R-4779-6 750-cfm Holley mechanical secondary carburetor complete with its choke housing. The healthy Rat cranked out a baseline power with no filter of 567 hp and 545 lb-ft of torque. View Related Article
