This little SBF is a perfect example of how a little research and some careful planning can give you a very potent 347 cubic inch, naturally aspirated motor.

Duttweiler added a complete Scat stroker rotator package to the stock 5.0 production block with a 4340 steel crank, H-beam rods, and a set of SRP flat-top pistons with a 1/16-inch ring package. You can also order I-beam rods if that suits your fancy.

500 Horsepower Ford Stroker Wedge Heads
The key to the power this stroker 302 cranks out can be partially attributable to the outstanding TFS Twisted Wedge R-series heads. These heads feature a large 206cc intake port, 0.500-inch raised exhaust ports that flow like fire hoses, and large 2.08/1.60-inch stainless valves.

500 Horsepower Ford Stroker Valve Chamber
The chamber measures a tight 61cc with the classic kidney shape that improves combustion efficiency. TFS claims the intakes will flow a serious 205 cfm at a mere 0.300-inch of valve lift. One key to cylinder head performance is mid-lift flow. These particular heads are fitted with the receiver grooves for O-rings, but these really aren't necessary unless you plan on using a turbo with massive boost.

The other half of the power combo is this Comp Cams mechanical roller cam. Spec'ing out with 246 degrees of duration at 0.050-inch tappet lift with 0.614-inch lift, this is a thumper cam. At best we could only manage 8 inches of manifold vacuum at 950-rpm idle speed.

We also used a set of Comp Cams' 1.6:1 Hi-Tech stainless steel rocker arms. A taller rocker ratio was just one of the ideas we didn't have time to test that might have made a little more power, given how strong the heads performed.
