All GM cars from the '60s and early '70s use this separate 12-volt lead from the positive battery terminal to feed electrical power to the entire car separate from the starting circuit. This 14-gauge wire is way too small to adequately feed the electrical demands of the rest of the car. The small wire means high resistance.
