Why is horsepower such a big deal? Well, we figure that "making the number" is all about bragging rights. And a high-horse dyno sheet sure looks cool displayed next to your ride at a car show like the '01 Car Craft Summer Nationals in St. Paul. So it's no surprise that Werx Motorsports' mobile Dynojet was completely booked with eager street machiners within 20 minutes of opening the show gates. We picked out 10 cars from the 80-some that were dyno-tested over the weekend, and had the owners write down their best rear-wheel-power guess. These guys apparently knew their combos pretty well, because 6 out of 10 guessed within 20 hp of their car's true rear-wheel power! And if you think that's impressive, we should mention that Joel Route was within 0.6 hp of his '98 Trans Am's dyno-tested power. That's plain psychic!
