QA1 is an American leader in manufacturing automotive suspension components. The company is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary, and in conjunction with the 2013 CAR CRAFT Summer Nationals QA1 held a cruise and tour of its facility in Lakeville, Minnesota for anyone to attend.
QA1 fed the crowd of 150 registered vehicle owners with donuts and coffee; those who preregisterd in the cruise from Lakeville to the St. Paul, Minnesota State Fairgrounds Friday, July 19th, 2013 solidified a spot at the front of the line for entrance to day 1 of the 2013 CAR CRAFT Summer Nationals presented by Chevrolet performance.
The lawn behind the QA1 Lakeville plant was crammed with cars, spilling to a field nearby. Picnic tables were placed under trees that gave visitors a shady place to enjoy the sunrise and to eat breakfast. While some sat outside, others lined-up to take a tour of the manufacturer’s engineering and production plant.
As we took the tour through the enormous building, CAR CRAFT was pulled aside for a private tour with Melissa Scoles, the president of QA1. We were shown a more in-depth look behind the scenes at how parts are made: from ball joint press-in sleeves, to the loop-end of a shock body – we were very impressed with the quality that goes into each part. Custom engineering is used in QA1’s all-new composite lab, an in-house engineered filament winding machine used to assemble carbon fiber driveshafts. Expect the unique shafts to be introduced at SEMA later this year and on sale in the first quarter of 2014.
As the morning approached noon, we were on our way to the Summer Nationals with a belly full of delicious pastries and thoughts of shocks and suspension components on our minds. It was great to see a local business doing so well. Be sure to check-out QA1 for more information on its latest products.
