I have a ’74 K5 Blazer. It’s mostly an off road truck, it has the usual stuff. Dana 60/14/bolt with 4.88 gears and spools at each end running on 37’s on 16.5 hummer double bead lock steel wheels. 700R4/205 with a twin stick and an 1800 stall converter. It has a crate motor, GM 1256858, I changed the stock heads to the Vortec heads with the bee hive springs, CCA-26918 and retainers. It has a Professional Products intake, 52006 and a Comp cam 4x4 Extreme cam, CCA-08-411-8. All this goes through the Flowtech headers, 49152-1FLT and the Flowmaster 50’s out back. I’m using a 750 cfm Q-jet with a K&N air cleaner and a stock HEI with MSD coil and 8MM wires. The truck weighs in at 7100 lbs. My question is torque and HP. I want more, like 375-400 Hp. I’ve seen quite a few motors that advertise 350-400 Hp. After reading the parts list on those I think I’m pretty close. What would be the next thing to achieve those numbers or move into a LQ4/LQ9 with a with a carb and new Hot Cam. I have been doing some research lately and want to start a new 572 BBC build. I have decided to go with a Dart aftermarket block and deefinetly with forged rotating assembly but am curious what others think for different components. As for the rotating assembly I was curious if anyone had good suggestions or had expierience with a specific brand the could recommend. I plan on puttin a turbo on the engine so keep that in mind when suggesting parts also. Money is not an issue to an extent I just dont want to spend $50,000 on this thing. As for headers I don't even know where to begin and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. I am open to ideas and I apologize about the long post but would like opinions and advice both good or bad. I've never built a boosted engine before and I don't want to leave power on the table. Let's say I have two 350sbc. Both are built identically. Same compression. Same cam, same valve size, same intake, same brand of heads. Only difference being the intake runner size. One is 170 the other is 200. In a n/a engine the 170 runner would make a little more low end power while the 200 runner would lose a little of the low end but gain more top end. Correct. Now the same engines under the same amount of boost. TBI intakes are 2 in a normal position.. 2 raised angle.. 2 in a normal position... vortec intake bolt patterns are 4 straight down and small diameter... you can get the heads drilled with a JIG if possible to either of the non vortec patterns.. depending on what you want.. but more and more intakes are available for vortec patterns.. as the heads flow so much better.. don't throw anything out off the donar engine until its all running. and you have put a bunch of miles on it.. are you installing it in a fiero??? how about an LS4... that is a short FWD version of the LS1.. with the proper front accessory drives to probably drop into your fiero.. the bell housing pattern is correct also for the transmission... yep... just a thought... as i have not looked at your other posts... this is the back end of an LS4. http://i5.ebayimg.com/02/i/001/2a/b2/d409_12.JPG<br /><br /><div><a href="http://forums.carcraft.com/70/9498312/chevrolet/gm-vortec-350-efi-choices/">g.m. vortec 350 efi choices</a> |

All the goodies that will work with what is currently installed; headers, MSD spark box and a chip. I want to upgrade the cam,but the guys at Comp Cams tell me with what I have as far as throttle body injection, I cannot get any additional gains. I want to remove the TBI, manifold and distributor and go back with Edelbrock intake and fuel, and MSD ignition.
