How To Stick a Stripe

Start by using masking tape to hold the stripe in position. Also use the masking tape to form guides that will keep the stripe straight as you lay it in place.

Tape down the stripe in the center, then untape one half of it and wipe slippery stripe spooge on the painted surface. Some people use soapy water instead.

Peel the backing off the untaped half of the stripe, then have a helper use a razor blade to cut off the backing.

Lay the adhesive stripe into position slowly, using the masking-tape guides to position it on the car, and slowly sticking the stripe in position and pushing out air bubbles with a credit card or body-filler spatula as you go.

Next, peel the backing off the second half of the stripe and repeat the sticking procedure.

Finally, once all the stripes are applied to the car, peel the top layer from the transfer tape, making sure to pull back as shown, not out and away from the body, which could lift the stripe. Then admire your new hot rod.
