Camaro Ring Tone
The Web rules, so what Web users ask for, Web users get (and we keep forgetting to send a thank-you note for Snakes on a Plane). After much demand for an '09 Camaro ring tone, GM has coughed up the goods:http://fastlane.gmblogs.com/archives/Camaro_Test_Drive_Engine_Ringtone.mp3
Mustang 427R
There can never be enough tuneage for a Mustang, and that's why Roush Performance has kicked the factory-car's butt (and its own performance lineup, actually) with a 427hp 427R package. Sure, there's a four-piece aerodynamics kit, 18-inch cast-chrome rims matched to hi-po rubber, and the special striping, but we know you want to get to the meat: underhood. The 4.6L V-8 has a specially tuned ECM/intercooled Roushcharger system generating an extra-hearty helping of power: 115 hp and 65 lb-ft of torque over stock. The 427R Mustang also has loads of suspension mods, including new front struts, springs, and rear shocks, as well as massaged bumpstops and sway bars. Coupe and convertible versions are available.
What's The Dodge Avenger?
This concept car was recently revealed and promises to tease you senseless about the next-generation global D-segment car. Or as Dodge says, "Avenger brings Dodge-brand American musclecar heritage into the global midsize-car segment." The company then started rambling about the Caliber, and we went comatose. We did manage to catch the fact that the concept featured the familiar crosshair grille as well as 19-inch wheels, dual exhaust, a spoiler, an integrated diffuser, and a 2.0L turbodiesel.
Will The Future Be Capless?
While Ford put to death the GT, its capless fuel filler will live on. The Lincoln brand has swiped the technology for its '08 MKS crossover, and the design should soon hit all the Ford brands. What are the benefits, you ask? No gas fumes can get out, so that's kind to the ozone layer. There's also the age-old (or is that old-age?) problem of people forgetting to put their gas caps back on. Plus, who can ignore the strenuous task of unscrewing and rescrewing the filler cap? That elimination alone should add what we've calculated to be 6.7 seconds back to your week. You're welcome.
New Term Donk
Usually Impalas, Monte Carlos, or Caprices from the mid-'70s that are lifted and on 24s or higher but with slightly lower stances at the rear. Box would be the mid-'80s version of this "design" but with a more level stance; ditto the mid-'90s take, the bubble.
B&M Acquires McLeod, Expands Customer Service
Nate Shelton, B&M Racing & Performance Products' chairman, recently announced the acquisition of McLeod Industries. Founded in 1971 by internationally known clutch guru Red Roberts, McLeod manufactures and distributes a full line of clutch assemblies, flywheels, hydraulic throwout-bearing kits, adaptive bellhousings, and rail shifters for five- and six-speed transmissions. "The joining of these two industry icons, with almost 100 years of racing heritage, will now be the most formidable power delivery group in the performance aftermarket," Roberts said. For longtime racers and dealers of McLeod Products, Roberts will remain in place and direct R&D of new products as well as continue to offer valuable racer assistance. B&M also added three new customer-service and tech-support staff to handle questions about the wide range of performance components. Give them a call and welcome Drew Guzman, Steven Dater, and Joey Collins to the B&M team. The customer service phone number is 818/882-6422. -Douglas R. Glad
