Yes, that's Mickey Mouse. So what?
The Stupid Web
I love the Web. I call it stupid because I will casually flip open a browser at work to take a mental break from writing about someone's bitchin' '69 Camaro only to snap out of it hours later cross-eyed with five new schemes for how to modify the toaster so it can come on with a timer before I wake up or some such nonsense. But it's not all bad ideas, slanderous blogs, and misinformation; it also has some critical car-guy value when you dig down into it. Check out my favorites that go way beyond the simple eBay and craigslist bull, just don't forget to get up once in a while to eat and sleep.
planethoustonamx.com
OK, it seems that I might be a closet AMC guy and am trying to force you to like them by pointing out this Web site. You are only partly right. The real beauty here is the Just Stuff section and the Texas AMC Legion of Doom. Cruise this site at home 'cause you are going to laugh out loud when you discover that Bizarro wasn't just a stupid Superman.
motorbooks.com
If there's a faster way to lure someone into bankruptcy, I'd like to see it. This site has been getting better, and since it only sells motor books, the search function can't go wrong! It's hard to argue with a $13 book about Hemi musclecars.
junglepam.com
Those of you who predate me by 15 or 20 years know who Jungle Pam is. Her site is stocked with the kind of photography that made walking through the staging beams wearing go-go boots the thing to do. There are also very cool pics of the Jungle Jim Funny Car from the early '70s. My favorite is Pam reading an issue of Super Stock in the pits.
allpar.com
When my brain fails and I need to remember if you could get a '69 Road Runner with a Six Pack hood, I usually end up lost in the pages of allpar. It goes way beyond the typical photo and pop info that anyone can glean from books and magazines and shoots straight for the history of the entire Chrysler kingdom. It traces the roots back to 1864 with the birth of John Francis Dodge and forward to the rumor mill about what the '07 Avenger might look like.
