Book ReviewThe Unfair AdvantageAsk us and we'll tell you what makes a good race driver great. It's the ability to understand what is happening to the car and communicate it to your mechanics to make the right changes. Arguably the first person to ever effectively accomplish this and make driving a career as a result was Mark Donohue. The Unfair Advantage was written in his words about his life from 1958-1975 before he was killed in Austria testing a Formula One car. Not only can you learn about his colorful career but you also get a peek inside the sport of motor racing. Read carefully and you may also learn the general principals behind setting up a race car.
This book was originally published in 1975 and was rereleased by Bentley Publishers in 2000. We bought ours used from Amazon.com.
Fits The CrimeIn late February, Orlando, Florida, Orange Circuit Judge John H. Adams Sr. sentenced convicted street racer Erik Rivera, to wear a sandwich board (a two-sided, two-foot by three-foot sign) for 50 consecutive Sunday mornings from 1 to 2 a.m. around his old street-racing haunt reading "Don't Street Race. I Lost My Drivers License for 3 Years" according to a report in the Orlando Sentinel. That's harsh. But wouldn't a worse punishment have been forcing him to continue driving the Honda Del Sol he was racing?-John Pearley Huffman
