19. A vital step in achieving a top-quality finish is to apply a thin haze of a contrasting color over the primer to serve as a guidecoat while sanding. The guidecoat reveals high and low spots in the body much more effectively than sight or feel alone. We mixed a bit of black basecoat into the primer with double the normal reduction to get the right consistency and color.
