When removing the axles, don’t damage the axle seal in the end of the housing; remove the axle all the way rather than letting it rest on the seal. Note the position of the retainer plate gasket, axleshafts, and shims so they can go back where they came from. Inspect the axleshafts, bearings, and seals for damage that may need repair.
