Wheels/Tires: The wheel and tire package is impressive: 18x10- and 18x12.5-inch Forgeline wheels and 275/35 and 335/30-18 BFGoodrich KDW tires. You wouldn't think there would be a lack of grip, but with the car's more than 800 lb-ft of torque and the suspension's cornering prowess, Mark needs every square inch of rubber contacting the road he can get. Interior: Thankfully, Mark kept the interior clean and simple. All American Auto Upholstery of Romulus, Michigan, rehabbed the cockpit. In it are grippy but comfortable Recaro seats, Sparco harnesses, Auto Meter gauges, an Alpine stereo, a Vintage Air A/C system, and a MOMO steering wheel. Paint/Body: Mark bought the car from an eBay seller in California. He is proud to point out that all the sheetmetal is original and intact. The OE steel cowl-induction hood sits safely in storage, while an aluminum hood and front bumper fill in as lightweight, track day replacements. Reiter Metal Craft did some of the straightening, Stenod Performance built the rollbar, Joe and Paul VanNus of Kalamazoo, Michigan, sprayed the brilliant basecoat/clearcoat finish. The color is '10 Volkswagen Salsa Red. Thanks: Hats off to Ryan Kuhlenbeck for helping with the wiring and mechanical work. "I never would have gotten the car done without him," Mark says. He also wants to thank Joe Borschke at Stenod, painters Joe and Paul VanNus, Dave Mikels for engine tuning help, Kevin Zelenka for chassis tuning help, Kyle Tucker of DSE, Paul Reiter for his metal straightening work, and Currie for the 9-inch Ford it donated for his Chevy. « | 1 | 2 | 3 | View Full Article By John McGann Enjoyed this Post?
