Home on the Ranger Ford Rangers in Car Craft? Yes, in the early '80s, there were no niche magazines to bring low-volume interests to the masses, so CC had to do it all. This '83 Ranger was built by CC staffers as part of a contest that pitted our tastelessness against that of Hot Rod and Motor Trend staffers. Votes cast by random shoppers in several California malls decided the winner, and the winner was . . . us! Our rattle-can primer stripes and serious-for-the-time 16-inch Center Line Champ wheels impressed the likes of voter Val Liu, who was randomly selected to win a new Ranger XLS. If this were a color photo, you could also enjoy the mustard-yellow body color, contrasting black and red stripes, blacked-out hood, and tonneau cover. We didn't do any engine work, alas, the stock four-popper remained. Think it lives? We don't think so, either. By Douglas R. Glad Enjoyed this Post?
