Who: Jon McLain
What: '67 Chevrolet Camaro
Where: Tulsa, OK
Why: Jon's grandpa, Ruel Weaver, bought this Camaro on December 3, 1966. From there it was his mom's wedding present and finally Jon's first car. Today it runs 10.90s at 120 mph using a 355-inch small-block with 12.5:1 compression and a squirt of nitrous. For some reason, the rearend is an 8 3/4 from a Chrysler with 3.90:1 gears.
Who: Chris Tribou
What: '69 Plymouth Barracuda
Where: Winchendon, MA
Why: Chris' Barracuda has the original paint and interior and only 72,000 miles on it. It also has a 340 swap with 4.10:1 gears and a Hemi Dart scoop. Chris works on the car in a small garage with a dirt floor. We like Chris.
Learn how to black-out your own Hemi Dart scoop in the Nov. '06 issue.
Dirt floor? Hard-core.
Built AN S-10!
Please build an S-10. I've wanted a V-8 S-10 truck since I was about 12 years old. A box S-10 would be an awesome build. Do it as a street/strip pump gas racer. Use as many off-the-shelf parts as possible to keep costs and fab time to a minimum. Try a big-block or LSX with a Procharger, or nitrous if you have to. Keep the rear suspension and use relatively small tires. Throw some cool big 'n' littles on there and rip up the streets and test 'n' tunes.

Please don't publish another shot like the scantily clad Grump on the Rear View page (Oct. '09). Every time I grab that issue and start to thumb through it, I have to rinse my eyes out in the parts washer and stare at Cassia Walton until the nausea subsides.
Librarian Of The Month
I am writing regarding your First Annual Bikini Issue recently published in the Nov. '09 issue of Car Craft. I am seriously offended. You may stop reading now, thinking I am just some evil feminist you figured would complain about the exploitation of women to sell magazines. I hope you have kept reading because indeed I take no issue with your issue. I am just not that kind of woman. What I take issue with, serious issue with, is your choice of words. According to the AP Stylebook, which is the standard for all editors, "an event cannot be described as annual until it has been held in at least two successive years." So please make sure you name your articles correctly, be they bikini clad or not. By the way, I love the magazine. I steal my husband's copy every month.
-Melissa De La Fuente, Mobile, AL
Kristen Prescott and Michelle McCarthy also pointed that out because they are responsible for making the mag coherent. We meant it as a joke.

Isn't it a felony to have emergency lights on a civilian car?
This is our idea of a street car.
Who: Christopher Klopper
What: '82 Chevrolet Malibu wagon
Why: Um, since the wheels are off the ground, you know it's good. The wagon has a 427 small-block with a small hit of nitrous, a 'Glide, and a 12-bolt with 4.10:1 gears. The best pass is 6.16 in the eighth-mile.
Who: Erin Magee
What: '85 Oldsmobile Cutlass
Where: East Earl, PA
Why: Erin liked the lines of the original '85 Cutlass but hated the V-6 power, so out went the GM wheezer for a Rocket 350 and a TH350 transmission. It also has a rear from an '87 Monte Carlo SS with 3.73:1 gears.
Erin Says: "This is the first time I've ever done anything like this, and I did it all in my own garage."
What this car needs is a smoky burnout.
