Cover Car Lost And FoundYou'd have to be a diehard CC fan to recognize these three cars as the stars of the magazine's June '83 cover; they are seen here in an outtake photo that was used inside the mag as a lead to a story on cruise-night crackdowns by The Man. The Six-Barrel 'Cuda was Bob Schueller's, and the Camaro belonged to Jason Kuratani, but the car of interest here is John Harai's 383, four-speed '70 Challenger R/T. He'd bought it for $350 and restored it, but soon after the Pete Santini-painted car was photographed for the cover, it was parked in John's garage. It did not see the light of day until August 2007, when it was purchased in time-capsule condition by Steve Stanley. Thankfully, Steve plans to change nothing about this '80s throwback.
