Old VS. New
In 1992, the CC staff was seemingly on a bent to convince the readership that old cars just weren't that good, doing so with a frenzy of old-versus-new comparos: 5.0 Mustang vs. Boss 302, Viper vs. Shelby Cobra, '70 W31 vs. '92 Olds Achieva W4, '64 GTO vs. '92 ZR1 Corvette, and, as seen here, '70 AAR Cuda vs. '92 Plymouth Laser. The AAR did not fare too impressively, running 15.06 in the quarter to the Laser's 15.03. Of course, this was the same era of CC that ridiculed Camaros while featuring the likes of Toyota MR2 buildups. Fortunately we've recovered. And ask Barrett-Jackson how those '92 Plymouths are selling these days-you might be able to guess which car gets the last laugh.
