Scott Gillman / Crested Butte, CO
On our fun cross-country trip with the '65 El Camino ("Build The Ultimate Daily Driver," Jan. '07), we invaded our buddy Scott Gillman's house, where we repaired a tweaked front fenderwell and took advantage of Scott and his wife Debbie's hospitality. Scott worked as a fabricator/ engineer for several big aftermarket companies, such as Gale Banks, Hotchkis, and Baer, before moving to the ski-resort town of Crested Butte several years ago to escape the madness of Southern California. So, after he built his house, he designed and built this shop that includes an upstairs office and an adjoining Man Room complete with an automotive / rock 'n' roll theme. It's where he hangs out when he's not running his Cement Creek Welding business or when the snow gets deep enough that even the snowmobiles won't run!
