Chevy Cobalt gets flipped

Photography by Ron Lewis

Ron Krisher Upside-Down
NHRA Pro Stock driver Ron Krisher's Valvoline Chevy Cobalt got loose and crashed at the 52nd Mac Tools U.S. Nationals near Indianapolis on Labor Day weekend. Krisher suffered a few cracked ribs and minor burns when the car's nose lifted and took a sharp turn into the retaining wall then rolled onto its top during the second round of eliminations. A fire erupted when parts of the fuel system ruptured but was quickly extinguished by the NHRA Safety Safari. Krisher was able to race three weeks later at the O'Reilly Nationals in Maple Grove where he missed the qualifying round by 0.004.
