Looking For 9.00

Who: Scott Walters
What: '67 Ford Fairlane
Where: New Orleans, LA
Why: Because Scott, Andy, and Big Rick pulled the 289 for a 514 swap. The new engine makes 796 hp on race gas.
He Says: Hopefully, I can get close to the 9s with this combo, if not, there is always nitrous.

Monochrome Returns

Who: Jack Young
What: '74 Chevrolet Nova
Where: Abilene, TX
Why: This was a complete strip and rebuild Jack did for his daughter Jordan over the course of a year for $7,000. It has parts from a '72 Pontiac Ventura, a front clip from a four-door '72, and a '73 trunk lid. The front bumper has been filled, and the body was painted '04 SSR Radar Blue.
He Says: You can do lots of things for your kids, but when you put so much time, love, and care into a project like this Nova, they will remember all the time you spent together.

Corvette Letter

Interesting editorial "The Style" (Sept. '06). I just need more of your type of gearhead to keep our catalog moving! My '63 Z06 turns a hell of a lot more heads than a new one! I can wear jeans, drive the car fast, and feel real cool 'cause it's my car, not the next cool machine! -Mike Yager, Chief Cheerleader, Mid America Motorworks

Happy Guy Letter

I am dropping your magazine for the following reasons:
1. You, for the most part, are flacking for the advertisers. Articles are written to use advertisers' parts and not for technical reasons.
2. You have at least one person on your staff who has given out incorrect information and who has refused to acknowledge it. 'Just one?
3. Editorial direction seems to be for 22-year-olds, not mature individuals. -Alan Hale, Kingston, NV

Send Burnouts!!

Don't be sensible, live a little! Send your burnout photos and be the king of all guys who cannot or will not do their own burnouts. If you send them via e-mail to, always send large files. That's at least 500K and 5 by 5 inches at 300 dpi (1,500 by 1,500 pixels). If you don't know what we're talking about, ask a 12-year-old kid. Send tangible photos to Car Craft, 6420 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90048.
