Yes, we know the difference between a Rat and a Mouse. The photo on page 42 of the Nov. '06 issue also got switched when we were out at the cleavage caf. Coming next month: disciplinary action!
Not A MustangWhile we were at the Mustang Roundup in Seattle last summer, we almost walked right by this elephant in the room. It's a sleeper '69 Ford XL with a stock interior and paint job. The only giveaway was the huge 315 meats in the rear and the Monster tach on the shift console. We got a peek under the hood and found a 514 with Edelbrock heads.
Too LateIf you sent an e-mail about the photo of the crank in the Nov. '06 issue's Behind the Scenes, you are one of many. Somewhere between the art guy and the printer, the photo got switched. Here is the real deal, a Chrysler that was picked clean before we could nab the 4-4-0.
Needs PaintWhile on a shoot for the Feb. '07 issue, we found this '68 Road Runner with '69 fenders up on 'stands. We stared and schemed until the owner said he already had $6,000 tied up in it so that's what he wanted to sell it for. Notice the lack of any straight panels? It is an original burgundy 383 automatic car minus the engine, paint, and interior trim.
Giant MicAt our buddy Scott Gillman's, we had to shoot this giant Starrett micrometer he had on his wall. Imagine the crank journal it has to measure.
