Ahhh . . . Bull's Eye
We apologize. Many of you have complained that the CC Pacer project car in last month's Rear View just wasn't family fare and that your kids have been waking up screaming in the night, begging daddy to make the bad AMC go away. After seeing that fender-flared monster, we needed a bit of palette cleansing ourselves, so we dug up shots of one of our favorite CC cars ever, the Project Swinger. This one started in July '83 in a column called Swap Shop, where the staff offered a used conrod that was eventually traded up to a Muncie trans, which reader Tom Toycen swapped to the mag for a complete '69 340 Dart. The restoration began in the Jan. '85 issue and continued in every issue through Aug. '85. When it was complete with a 315hp Bob Lambeck 340, it was given away at the CC Nats. Jeff Smith still remembers this as one of the nicest cars ever given away by a magazine. Show the kids and sleep easy.
