1968 Dodge Dart

Steve Atwell / Walled Lake, MI

Chances are you've read about Steve Atwell within these very pages. If you're a Mopar fan, there's no doubt you know the name. Steve is the self-proclaimed "Hemi idiot" and has a near-ridiculous collection of crazy-rare Hemi cars. If you think all Mopar-collecting guys keep their garages in hospital-like, eat-off-the-floor, sterile, clean condition, Steve's garage will make you think twice.

Not pictured is the actual '68 GTX Hemi convertible the editors of Car Craft flogged on a cross-country trip from Detroit to Los Angeles in 1968. This road trip was repeated (in the exact same car) by Freiburger, with this author tagging along, in 1999. Two others not shown are Steve's black-on-red '64 aluminum frontend car with 200 miles on the odometer and the altered-wheelbase '65 Dodge Dave Strickler car that is on display at the Chrysler Museum in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
