Howard Allen / Near Los Angeles, CAHoward Allen is the real deal, and so is his garage. He's been over 150 mph at Bonneville on a series of homebuilt machines, raced a motorcycle on nitromethane in the days before the NHRA outlawed it, and held a Bonneville Top Fuel record on a '61 Harley KR with a factory-issue, 74-inch engine. He's pushing 80, but you'd never know it by looking. It dawns on you when he talks about the '40s and '50s like everyone in the room was around back then and just wasn't paying attention. You can understand why we jumped at the chance to feature the garage where he built most of the machines and to get a glimpse of the historical racing parts hidden inside. Enjoyed this Post?
