We Want it Back
Way back in 1998, Freiburger bought a '67 Camaro mainly because the price seemed right. The car, however, was so beat that even Camaro fetishist McGean turned up his nose the first time Freiburger offered to pass it along. But the lack of rust, even on the floorpans, soon dazzled McGean, who had then only recently arrived from the East Coast. He bought it, made some progress, and then found an even better '67. So the first needed a new home and was sold to his longtime friend Ken Wessel, who took it back to New York.
Here's a preview shot of the car with body and paint completed, thanks to John Ricci of B&M Auto Body; it's now tucked safely in Ken's heated garage. This car started as a 327/'Glide on the column, but the 454, Muncie four-speed, and 8.5-inch 10-bolt have all been acquired--mostly on eBay--and are being rebuilt, mostly by Ken, a GM technician by trade. At least other people can finish our project cars.

This is the cover you almost saw. After hours of brainstorming, debate, and caffeine abuse over how to make this cover shot work, we got word from above to just pull the plug. Good thing Edwin likes doing clipping paths in Photoshop.
The Car Craft Tradition
Way back in his CC days, circa 1984, Editor Jon Asher started a tradition where each succeeding editor would be given a cache of valuable All-Star Drag Racing drinking glasses. Each editor would keep the collection and retain one glass before passing it along to his successor. One editor did not maintain the tradition so a couple of guys have been bypassed, but current Editor Douglas R. Glad is now in possession of 10 precious pieces that date back to 1969. Each glass is lettered with a year from the All-Star program. The Car Craft All-Star Drag Racing Team began in 1967, with its 35th and final anniversary in 2002.
Canyon Car!
Feast your eyes on the tastiness of the Car Craft '67 Mustang project car. We have already received heated verbal warnings from the fordsix.com guys rallying for a multi-carb inliner build, and several guys hoping it doesn't evolve into a boring small-block drag car. Well, so far everyone is in luck. For now, it keeps the 200-inch six and gets Global West handling goodies for some turning times. Global West GTO
In a recent road trip to Global West Suspension Components, we found owner Doug Norrdin's team hard at work completing his 400ci, five-speed '65 GTO. The Goat is tickled with an on-the-verge-of-production Vortec blow-through centrifugal-supercharger package. Look for a full test of this Poncho once it becomes roadworthy.
