1967 AMC Rumbler
Photography by Steve Magnante
We discovered the Rumbler at the '05 AMC Nationals in Cordova, Illinois, and watched as Terry bashed the car up and down the strip all weekend long. Keep in mind that aside from a brake overhaul and the addition of a single four-barrel induction (the cross-ram was long gone when Terry got the car), it had been sitting idle for over 30 years. Though the Rumbler suffered from a slipping clutch and only ran mid 15s when we saw it, the raspy sound of the 290 left no doubt it packs a very healthy camshaft and some seriously high compression, and it's very likely a fully blueprinted and balanced race motor. We were happy to see him using it for its intended purpose.
