542CI Cadillac - 'Horsepower!

542ci Cadillac, 718 HP on Pump Gas / Potter's Cadillac Performance Parts, Soddy, TNThe Cad 500-incher was the biggest production passenger car V-8 ever . . . and they can grow from there. Originally built to spin to 4,000 rpm while grunting out gargantuan torque, Richard Potter's Cadillac Performance and other Cadillac tuners have found ways to make these mastodons thrive in the arena of 6,000 rpm and beyond. Potter's normally aspirated versions drill out anywhere from 500 to 800 hp, but he's also built blown stock-block Cads to 1,400 hp. He's got his own cylinder heads almost ready, and if you defrag your brain and look closely at what the Cadillac guys are doing, you'll wonder why there aren't more of these luxo-motors prowling the streets.
