Eric Leubner’s ’69 Chevrolet Camaro

Photography by Matt King

When you own a body shop, your car naturally is a rolling billboard for your work. Eric Leubner of Syracuse, New York, and the owner of Performance AutoBody has nothing to fear with his ’69 Camaro—except maybe more business. We first had the pleasure of meeting Eric at the 2000 NMCA Maplegrove event where he ran the Factory Street class. It was there that we saw the killer Green SS running 11.10 e.t.’s at 127 mph. Not impressed? Well, Eric accomplished this on the motor at a portly 3,800 pounds with street tires. And here’s the kicker: You won’t find an automatic in his ride. Instead he prefers to bang the gears through the hefty slick-shifted Chrysler 833 four-speed. If this still doesn’t impress you, how about the stroked 454ci that is now a brutal 525ci and roams the streets? Works for us!
