2015 Ford Mustang 50 Year Limited Edition

Ford Announces 1,964 Special Edition Mustangs to Be Built

By , Photography by Ford Motor Company

Fifty years ago on April 17, 1964, Ford Motor Company launched an all-new ponycar that would become an American icon. There’s not a car guy, hot rod shop, or race track in North America that hasn’t been impacted by this feral steed from Dearborn, and to celebrate that legacy Ford will offer a 50th Anniversary Mustang package based on the all-new 2015 Ford Mustang GT fastback: the 50 Year Limited Edition 2015 Ford Mustang.

Starting with the 2015 Ford Mustang GT as the base, the 50 Year Limited Edition cars will be built with Ford’s performance pack and will only be offered with two options: paint color (Wimbledon White to commemorate the serial number 0001 car sold to Capt. Stanley Tucker in April of 1964, or Kona Blue) and transmission choice (six-speed manual or six-speed automatic). Very Henry Ford.

The 50 Year Limited Edition Ford Mustang’s unique exterior styling continues with an homage to the chrome-surrounded taillights on the 1962 concept car designed by Gale Halderman. The rear fascia will also feature a non-functioning gas cap badge with “50 Years” added to the GT logo. Also unique to the 50 Year Limited Edition Mustang package are louvered rear quarterwindows.

Inside the 50 Year Limited Edition Ford Mustangs the double-brow instrument panel will be capped by an aluminum trim piece fit with a serialized “50 Year Limited Edition” badge on the passenger side. Each badge will be individually etched at the Flat Rock Assembly Plant where the 2015 Ford Mustangs are to be constructed. The 50 Year Limited Edition cars will also get an exclusive cashmere-stitched, leather-wrapped steering wheel. The stitching theme will then carry over to the instrument panel, shifter boot, center armrest, door inserts, and seats.

The seats will also be exclusive to the 50 Year Limited Edition Mustang cars and be covered with two-tone cashmere and black leather upholstery. A Mustang 50 Year logo will grace the seat backs and offset the 50-Year-car only loop-carpet floor mats with cashmere stitching and suede binding.

Powered by a 5.0L V8 with more than 420 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque, every 50 Year Limited Edition car will be equipped with six-piston Brembo front brakes and 19-inch alloy wheels and Y-speed-rated Pirelli P-Zero summer tires. The 19-inch alloy wheels feature a unique Y-spoke design said to be inspired by the chromed steel wheels that were offered on the original Mustang 50 years ago.

When the 2015 Mustang production begins later this year the 50 Year Limited Edition cars will be among the first cars built. Make sure to check out our full gallery down below!

Don't like the look of the front grill it looks likes all the other fords, it doesn't look mean. I'm a girl and I'm saying this. The car looks girly, manly. Just my opinion.

That looks like a sweet Hyundai Tiburon!

The rear is too soft and droopy! The front is too tall, no slope to the hoodline. The hoodline is taller than the rear fenders! The backend just looks to weak! All I can say about this car is that it is a ugly big nosed buttless  wonder! Looks like a pinto parked next to a Hyundai or fusion! I don't know, maybe a DNA test is in order?.....

They've been out doing the camaro since '67. Except from 2003-2009, when the camaro wasn't even built. Haha

I think it looks too much like a Camaro from the side. Kind of gives the crown away on looks...and the Camaro does not have drop dead good looks.

They did on this model. The new Mustang will FINALLY rival the big boys of Europe with it. Porsche, Audi, BMW, Alfa Romeo, Jaguar, Volvo all are concerned at how much sales damage the Mustang will do to them. Chevy is just a smirk & giggle to them. The Camaro is too big, too heavy and too primitive. The Mustang has what it takes now to on take Europe's best.

The back looks like a Camaro you can do better than this and no your not out doing Chevy this time that is a shame

Let's make a Mustang that looks more like a Camaro than a Mustang. That's a great idea!!!!!!!
