We heard Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords magazine (MM&FF) plans to debut its project “Hypersilver,” a 1988 Mustang GT, at the 2013 SEMA trade show November 5th in Las Vegas, Nevada, to celebrate its 25th anniversary. As friends of the publication, Car Craft wants to get the word out about this amazing build. For many months, the magazine has labored over this Fox Bodied ‘Stang and get it ready in time for the big show. The magazine is stoked to celebrate 25-years in print.
The 1988 Ford Mustang GT started out as a stripped out empty body and served as the perfect platform to begin a pro-touring build with an emphasis on road racing. With select body parts from a MPS Auto Salvage sourced 1993 Fox Body Mustang, the Hypersilver crew has been fast at work wrenching on the ’88 Fox Body.
Currently, the ‘Stang packs a 427ci Kaase P-38, crate engine, which is good for 600hp. The power is sent to a Tremec Magnum 6-speed that sends the torque to a Moser narrowed 9-inch rearend. For suspension, the MM&FF crew went with coilover shocks to give the car a smooth ride well riding on Weld Racing wheels wrapped in P315/30ZR18 NTO1 Nitto tires. Newly installed subframe connectors and jacking rails keep the car stiff for drag racing. Wilwood brakes do the stopping at all four corners. A six point roll cage keeps the driver safe while making any potential 10-second quarter mile legal. The staff predicts Hypersilver will cross the quarter-mile finish line at just under 130 mph.
The man with this plan is Marc Christ, Technical Editor for MM&FF, and you can hear his interview discussing the car on a podcast HERE. If you’re interested in seeing the car unveiled, it’ll take place during SEMA on Tuesday, November 5th at 11:30 a.m. in the SIM booth #22743. This project will help commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Mustang, and the magazine’s 25th anniversary. We hope to see you there.
