FFW Part II & Viva Las Vegas
Last month, we described in detail our latest outing with Fun Ford Weekend. If you recall, the 2nd Annual Pacific Fun Ford Weekend Nationals at California Speedway in Fontana, California, was canceled after Mother Nature decided to rain on our parade. However, before loading up the trailer, our man Robert Varoujanian managed to secure the number-one qualifying position with an 8.66 at 159-mph pass. Close behind was Justin Buettner and his turbo powered '94 Mustang out of Las Vegas with a solid 9.027 at 161 mph, and in Third was Armon Javachi from Woodland Hills, California, with a 9.583 at 142-mph run.
Fast forward a month to the 2nd Annual Valley of the Sun at Firebird International Raceway in Chandler, Arizona. We were finally able to complete the prior event by turning Saturday's qualifying rounds into our final eliminations. All said and done, Robert eventually took the win with an 8.69 at 154, which also placed us in the number-three qualifying position for Sunday's eliminations. Best of all, we beat another milestone by cutting an insane 1.27 sixty-foot on the P275/60R15 radials! Unfortunately our buzz kill came on Sunday as we blew the tires off in the second round and had to settle for Third place.
The following week placed us in Las Vegas for the PSCA finals, only this time Mother Nature decided to bless us once again with 35-mph winds and heavy rains. Realizing the unsafe condition, PSCA owner Mel Roth was forced to postpone the event until the first race of the '05 season. Until then, we're currently Fourth in points and will have to wait to see just how we finish off the season.
