Here’s Mikey Whittle’s garage. He’s an industrial welder from Anaheim, and he’s owned that ’72 Camaro for more than 13 years. The engine is far from exotic; it’s a 12:1 408 small-block with cast-iron Bowtie heads and a solid roller cam, and it runs low 10s on a 250-shot of nitrous. “I broke a lot of motors to figure out the best combination of decent parts and a good nitrous tune-up,” he says, describing the process as “Budweiser research.” His 3,400-pound car has some fiberglass parts but retains the original glass and roll-up windows.
