Robert Hight stole the show with a 4.190/274.39 defeat of his father-in-law in the finale. Is it just us, or does this car bear a remarkable resemblance to one of the early Blue Max entries?

The star - make that superstar - of the Night Under Fire was John Force. He has been the centerpiece of the NUF for probably 10 years, and it's obvious his popularity remains off the charts.

Mere words aren't enough to describe the emotion of watching Bob Motz's thundering Kenworth in action. This guy once caused the background sign to catch fire, forcing the track to call the Norwalk Fire Department for assistance.

As Ernie Bogue demonstrates, what's not to like about jet cars?

There was just too much going on in too many places to see it all. If you want to watch championship-caliber teams hard at work, the late-model F/C pits are for you. After a more laid-back atmosphere? See the historic F/C pits. Wanna talk racing? See the Pro Mod guys. Need a closer look at the Anglia that was just like your dad’s? See the Gasser area. Want to meet fearless girls capable of 300-mph speeds? Go meet the colorful young ladies driving the jet cars. Need to be overwhelmed? Crawl all over Bob Motz’s Kenworth.

After the race, the gates were opened, the show cars were towed back down to the center of the track, and the fans mobbed everyone for a solid hour. You’d be amazed at how many people wanted their friends to take their pictures by the Christmas Tree as if it were a National Monument. But ya know what? That’s exactly what it is.
