Dude, that's my car!
Coolest Wagon
Tony Netzel from Duluth, Minnesota, built this car as a tribute to the Ramchargers and other early Mopar racers. The name is part of the fun. Instead of copying the Candy Matic or one of the Ramchargers' other cars, Tony decided it would be more fun to invent his own history and avoid any possible litigation. He built the wagon they would have built.
Tony and his friend Jason Rygg built the '64 Dodge 330 wagon for overall high jinks. Besides the rollcage, the car has seating for anyone crazy enough to ride with him. The 4,200-pound wagon is powered by a stock block 440 stroked to 496 cubes, featuring Indy cylinder heads and a Comp Cams solid lifter cam with a Dominator on top. The trans is a 727 with a Ford 9-inch and a 4.57:1 gear. The combo is good for 10.76 in the quarter.
Tony didn't build this wagon with the idea of coming to Byron. The first time he took it to the track, the car kept doing 4-foot wheelies. Tony thought it would be really cool to bring it to Byron and try a couple of experiments. He brought 100 pounds of ballast, installed a nitrous system in the car, and got that wagon to fly. He had a couple of nice practice runs, and when the competition started, he kicked out a great wheelstand that featured some really cool flames from his headers.
