What's often overlooked in the rush to learn about horsepower is how the numbers are generated. Andy Wicks' Dyno Tune out of Watertown, South Dakota, has been operating this Dynojet chassis dyno at the Car Craft Summer Nationals and several other big name events for several years, so he was the hands-down favorite to take on the task of taking his portable chassis dyno on the road for the DynoMax Power to the Wheels competition.

Beyond running the dyno, the one thing that all the competitors made sure to mention was how much help Andy and his crew were to them throughout the competition. In several cases, the cars have spent more than a few hours on Andy's dyno in South Dakota (dynotuneusa.com). In fact, Mark Gjavenis said he would rather tow his car 225 miles to Andy's shop even with much closer facilities just because of Andy's skill at tuning. It's endorsements like that, plus Andy's hard-working attitude that make him and his dyno crew such a valuable asset to the success of the DynoMax Power To The Wheels competition.

Andy is also a big proponent of E85 and has recently developed a Diablo electronic tuneup for late-model performance cars that can take advantage of E85's higher octane rating. It probably helps that there is an E85 refinery right down the road from Andy's shop. END
