The Chevelle was miraculously still running as we hit Pahrump at around 7:30 p.m. with the voltmeter showing around 10.5 volts. We bought a battery charger at the local Auto Zone, and with the help of Bill Chin (left) and Kevin Doyle (right) yanked the battery in the hotel parking lot and charged it overnight. The Holley guys lent us a RedTop battery they had borrowed from Optima, so now we could alternate batteries. It's a long story why we couldn't just install a new alternator.
