Lotsa Loot At The Pomona Swap Meet

2010 Pomona Swap Meet 1971 Dodge Challenger

Ah, summer. The valves are adjusted, the slicks are properly inflated, and we all want a new project car. Don't we? Girls and dwindling finances may stifle actual ownership of many rusted heaps, but that doesn't stop us from window shopping. Feast your eyes on the fixins we found at the Pomona swap meet in sunny Southern California, where you can still find an original rust-free Camaro-for a price.

We usually browse the E-Body Mopars after we buy Lotto tickets. This 440, four-speed Challenger was priced at $40,000, so we just kept on walking.

Wait, here is another '68 for $6,000. See what we mean?
  • 2010 Pomona Swap Meet 1965 Chevy Chevelle
Moving on, we found a halfway respectable '66 Chevelle for $6,500. It needed everything to be nice, but it would make a great driver as is. We'd drop in a smooth-running 396 and a four-speed and drive it everywhere.

  • 2010 Pomona Swap Meet 1972 Chevy Nova
This '72 Nova can be saved with about $1,000 worth of grille parts from YearOne. The asking price was $2,300. It needed an interior, too. We're thinking it needs a turbo small-block and a TH400 with a 'brake and 4.56:1 gears.

  • 2010 Pomona Swap Meet 1969 Chevy El Camino
We've probably hit you with enough El Caminos, but they are so cheap and so Chevelle-like. This '69 has some '68 parts on it, but for $3,000, who cares?

  • 2010 Pomona Swap Meet 1966 Barracuda
Since we'll never touch an E-Body Barracuda for south of $20,000, we were forced to look at the A-Body. This '66 was going for $3,800. Maybe it deserves a 410 crate engine from Mother Mopar.

  • 2010 Pomona Swap Meet 1962 Chevy Biscayne
This restored '62 Biscayne was top quality and the price was only $16,000. That's cheaper than a new anything we'd be seen in, and it drives like a big couch.

  • 2010 Pomona Swap Meet 1964 Chevy Impala
We've looked at big cars as cool cruisers but never see '64 Impalas, especially for $4,500. We're going to guess this one sold quickly at this price.

This is one of those aluminum 215-powered early F-85s. Might be fun to rebuild the mill to see what it can do. Nah, big-block.

The gravity around this Pro Street Camaro was strong. Imagine a twin-turbo big-block. Imagine a 672. Imagine a blown ex-alcohol dragster engine to go with the ex-door-slammer look. This would be dumb summer fun.
