The Gen IV engines use a separate thermostat housing (PN 12587395) and thermostat compared with Gen III integrated design. This allows a car crafter to cut, reclock, and weld the housing to reposition the placement of the coolant inlet. All LS engines place the thermostat on the inlet side of the cooling system. You can also now buy lower-temperature 165- and 180-degree aftermarket thermostats.
