Holley will supply the cars and engines! You bring the team and tools!
Are you pretty handy around an engine bay with hand tools? Are you well-versed in performing engine swaps? Then you might have what it takes to compete in the 2013 Car Craft Engine Swap Challenge held September 6-8, 2013 at Holley LS Fest in Bowling Green, KY at Beech Bend Raceway.
For 2013 two teams will be presented with two equally prepped running vehicles along with two GM LS crate engines. From there the two teams must face off to see which team can install the GM LS engine in place of the older engine and get it running in the shortest duration of time.
The winning team gets to keep the engine which is equipped with numerous bolt-on LS parts from Holley Performance including an EFI system!
Last year’s LS Fest say an upswing in attendance as more people begin dropping the popular engine in a variety of project cars. Vendors and sponsors have also increased with the growth of the event. The Contestants participate at the LS Fest as a great place to put projects through the endurance of performance events.
LS Fest is the only place where participants can partake in an LS-only auto-crossing, a countryside cruise, drag racing, drifting, a mobile dyno, engine swap challenge, show-n-shine, and a speed stop challenge all in one place.
Each year a champion is declared at LS Fest. The award goes to the driver that achieves the best average performance in the autocross, drag racing, speed stop challenge, and the show-n-shine. It highlights the individual with the most overall vehicle. Last year, LS Fest competitor Brian Finch returned with his second gen Camaro, edging first place from Detroit Speed’s Kyle Tucker by a mere three points. Jeffrey Cleary’s LS7 powered ’67 Corvette, finished in third, two points below Tucker.
The Car Craft Engine Swap Challenge
Just Automotive stopped the clock at 35 minutes and 21 seconds, which was good enough for first place and bragging rights, not to mention a brand new LS1 engine complete with Holley bolt-ons and a Holley EFI system
