The ’11 swap meet turned up this gem—a real-deal 138 code ’67 Chevelle SS396 with a straight axle shoved under its snoot. A four-speeder with its original 12-bolt rear end, the surface rust on the beam axle and leaf springs prove the job was done long ago. Like many such conversions, the installer severed the stock Chevelle frame under the cowl and replaced it with square tubing to simplify the leaf-spring mounts. With an asking price of $14,500, the dilemma is: Restore it to stock or keep the beam?
