Part of the car crafting culture has always been joining together for burgers and fries at a local diner, staying up late chatting about burnt rubber and spilt coolant. The SoCalLX club revolves around that very idea. Embracing the late-model Mopar, this Southern California car club joins together the first Friday of every month at Beach Burgers in Huntington Beach, CA, to meet new people, catch-up with old friends and chow-down on burgers while talking cars.
A line of Challengers
I recently traveled to El Toro, CA, for the annual SoCalLX club's "Spring Festival of LXs." It was at this event that I became familiar with a great group of guys and gals who take major pride in the ownership of the modern Mopar muscle. Whether you've supercharged your Challenger or kept your Chrysler 300 stock, this social club enjoys basking in sunshine and showcasing their cars. The main sticking point: "Where Southern California Car Culture Meets Modern Mopar Muscle."
Beginning in 2008 and still being produced, Dodge's resurrection of the Challenger, Charger and Chrysler 300 nameplates have been an enormous success. The power and performance of these cars stop nothing short than impressive. Compared to the iconic cars of the '60s and '70s, these LX/LC/LD vehicles certainly live-up to the expectation of "American Muscle."
The SoCalLX club accepts anyone with a late-model Dodge, Chrysler or Jeep product; this club has no fees, requires no window stickers, t-shirts to be purchased or any other malarkey that tends to follow a car club.
As long as you have a LX/LC/LD platform, just show-up to become a member. You can stay posted about events and car meets on their website. With hundreds of members and 8 years of being a club, Tom Gifford and Jon Welfringer are responsible for starting the SoCalLX club.
Merging two separate clubs, one for the Chrysler 300 and the other for the Magnum, they began accepting Challenger and Charger owners once the cars hit the market.
They're excited to have a strong following of members and are eager to have anyone with a passion for late-model Mopars to join the club. If you're in the Huntington Beach area, be sure to stop by Beach Burgers the 1st Friday of any month to meet some people with wicked rides and a similar interest.
